Redruth to Truro
An autumn walk via Carn Marth, the Redruth and Chasewater Railway, Wheal Jane (11 miles)

Walk uphill from Redruth station, passing remnants of the old tramway terminus, through Victoria Park and eventually out onto Sandy Lane. Follow a track left marked 'TARA', first left uphill, winding up to a lane, turn right then a bridleway on the right.

Climbing up onto Carn Marth the views open up - over to Falmouth Bay, the Roseland Peninsula and on a clear day, Trevose Head Lighthouse and the twin peaks of Rough Tor and Brown Willy.

Descending towards Carharrack, visit the Iron Footbridge and track sections before taking the Redruth & Chasewater Trail to Twelveheads.

Continue through the village taking a path right after the Church. Cross a footbridge, go right to rejoin the railway, now part of the Coast to Coast Trail. After a short distance go left uphill, with views back across the valley.

At the road, head downhill and take the footpath left past Wheal Jane. At the lane turn right. As this bends left, carry straight on along a bridleway. Continue on to Carrine Common, with a left fork to reach the lane towards Truro. A footpath left after an iron bridge leads towards Truro station for the 10 minute train journey back to Redruth.
