Comments regarding application details and size of proposed extension. Since my previous comment I realise that the 'roof plan' is actually more of a 'footprint plan', including greenhouses and any other structure regardless of its height. As such it is a misleading indication of the size of neighbouring extensions. Plans for many neighbouring properties are not available, but I assume you have paper copies of older extensions. No.52 1983/4 first one refused. On closer inspection this seems to extend about 3.4m, flat roof below guttering. There are no rear windows. No.54 2018 proposed to extend about 5.2m, roof above guttering. No.56 - no 2 storey extension, kitchen extends about 4.2m - side conservatory extension within 3m. No.58 1985 extends about 4.2m, flat roof below guttering. No.60 ???? no application found for the 2 storey extension, therefore assumed to extend within 3m, appears however to be as No.58. There is a conservatory to rear of this. No.62 - no 2 storey extension. No.64 2016 permission for 5.4m extension of lower height has not been built. Why? No.66 - no 2 storey extension. No.68 1968 appears to be as No.58. No.70 - no 2 storey extension. Inaccuracies, Omissions and other Questions: Application details. The existing roof does not look like natural slate, but more likely asbestos cement tiles. I notice (at least) one broken tile. Has it been tested for asbestos? How is it proposed to remove and dispose of possible hazardous materials? I also see no mention of the gas pipe running along the boundary wall. I trust the builders would be made aware of this for their own safety. Proposals: While these note my bathroom, they fail to mention the kitchen with its clear west facing window. Instead it is only referred to as a ground floor extension. The 'tall glazed porch' transmits natural light to the kitchen and dining room. I see no mention of whether this light would be significantly reduced. Other concerns: I find it hard to believe that it is proposed to build a wall directly in front of the windows of my kitchen extension. How would it be rendered/painted given the position of the guttering and its down pipe along the boundary? Would it still be possible to clean the outside windows? The proposed wall inches away would make them more likely to become dirty over time. I see no proposal to address this issue, despite mentioning my concerns to my neighbours. Chris and Tara said they hoped to find a compromise, minimising the effect on my home. They did not consult me further. Instead they have opted for a far larger structure than I had imagined they intended, or even possible. I believe it not to be in keeping with existing neighbouring 2 storey extensions. While I understand their desire for an extension, I had hoped they would submit more modest plans for the good of the neighbourhood. I shall be submitting further more detailed objections about the impact on my home, room by room, particularly regarding loss of light and outlook, once I have completed plans and posted them online.
